Tri-Smith Industrial Supply, Inc. is an Industrial Supplies Dealer located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Tri-Smith is a Woman-Owned, Iowa TSB-Certified Small Business that was Established in 1992 and is Dedicated to Providing Excellent Customer Service in the Midwest.

Our Beginnings

We launched our business in 1992 as O’D/Smith Industrial Supply. Our team consisted of one owner/salesman (Mell O’Donnell), one owner/inside sales/accountant (Cathy Smith), and a lot of support from friends and family. We started with a small office and a storage garage.

In 1995, we moved into a bigger office with a large warehouse and a dock. We purchased a bandsaw blade welder from Lenox, which required hiring someone to weld bandsaw blades. This led to the hiring of Erik Smith. By 1997, we welcomed another salesman to the team, Cathy’s husband Dennis.

In 1998, Mell left to start his own business. In 2001, we rebranded and changed the company name to Tri-Smith Industrial Supply, representing the three Smiths - Cathy, Dennis, & Erik.

Fast forward to 2021, Mell approached Cathy and Dennis about working as a commissioned salesman after his retirement. Dennis was in poor health and thought it was a good idea. Mell started working at Tri-Smith later that year.

When we started our company, we vowed to give the BEST customer service possible and that is still our goal today. Mell continues to make personal sales calls, and we respond to customer requests as quickly as possible.

We are an Authorized Lenox Service Saw Center. One of our biggest services is Lenox Band Saw Blade Welding. This service involves repairing and welding band saw blades to ensure they maintain their cutting performance. When blades become dull or damaged, welding can extend their lifespan and save costs compared to replacing them entirely. Our skilled technicians use Lenox quality standards to create perfectly matched teeth, uniform blade thickness, and a finished weld area! We, also, offer Lenox Coil Stock Cutting to Length. If you need band saw blade welding services, we are a reliable choice!

We are a supplier for Random Products, Inc. They have been a leader in the design, development, manufacturing and distribution of high-quality abrasive products since 1985, offering a robust product portfolio of coated and bonded abrasive products for sanding, grinding and cutting applications, including PFX brand products. PFX's wheels and flap discs combine the finest raw materials with the latest German technology to produce the best cost per grind ratio on the market.

We, also, offer Delivery Services. Our current delivery area includes Cedar Rapids and the surrounding Eastern Iowa areas.
